For the last 33 years the West Berks Dyslexia Association has provided support to dyslexic children and adults. We ran a very successful Saturday School, provided a helpline service and organised many speaker meetings. However recently our numbers have dwindled and consequently we have found it difficult to continue due to lack of support.
At our recent AGM there were not enough people willing to take on the running of the group so sadly we feel that the time has come to close down the WBDA. It is particularly disappointing as this leaves a large gap in the central and west Berkshire area since the Reading group also appears to have folded. Helpline enquiries are still coming in so I'm sure the need is still there. I've been running the helpline for over 20 years so it is very sad to see it go.
For the time being I am happy to continue to keep a list of local tutors and assessors and I'm willing to send it out by email only.
